Interactive Carpet ( Practice1 / Tuftuing and E-texitle )

The second project featured a collaboration with Tisca. We designed an interactive carpet that is able to register hand gestures, location and pressure. Using our research with fiber optic materials and tufting, it was possible to make digital textile structures, of which we produced a prototype. In this prototype thesurface location on the carpet can be viewed via a  screen matrix as well as on an LED sequence. The user’s location on this carpet translates to a corresponding location on the screen matrix. I look forward to developing this project further for smart IOT objects of the future.
